Bridges Across Borders Southeast Asia Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEACLE) cordially invites you to our 1st Access to Justice Weekend, January 8-11, 2015 which includes the Legal Ethics, Pro Bono, Access to Justice, and Professional Responsibility workshop, the Research Monitoring & Evaluation workshop, the 4th Access to Justice Public Interest Fair, the 6th Trio For Justice run/walk, the Access to Justice Dinner Celebration and the legal-themed Movie Night Under the Stars. This year, we are combining the 4th Access to Justice Public Interest Fair with the 6th Trio For Justice on January 10, 2015 at  Huey Tueng Tao Park, Chiang Mai, Thailand. We expect over 500 people to participate in the Trio For Justice run/walk, who will also explore the Access to Justice Fair before and after that event. We encourage you to promote your organization, by setting up a booth at the fair. Booth set-up is at 6:30 am, with the joint event continuing until noon. Our Access to Justice Celebration Dinner will be held later in the evening, when we come together to share the success of all events.

Last year, over 30 organizations attended the 3rd Annual Access to Justice Public Interest Fair, including a number of university clinics, educational institutions, NGOs and various organizations in similar fields, and they took advantage of this great opportunity to network amongst themselves and others. All demonstrated their community involvement, and/or offered information and volunteer opportunities, and/or sold merchandise to the public. The 5th Trio For Justice was incredibly successful, with 400 participants from countries including Cambodia, England, Hungary, Canada, Hong Kong, Laos and Thailand. Sponsors included Herbert Smith Freehills, Ashurst, Chiang Mai Lanna Business Services Ltd. (CLBS) and several other major organizations.

BABSEACLE is a global organization, devoted to helping some of Asia’s most marginalized people. Through clinical/community legal education (CLE), our primary aim is to unite people, creating networks dedicated to fighting for the equality and justice of the disadvantaged.   We focus on incorporating CLE programmes into university curricula, increasing the ranks of pro-bono minded legal professionals and setting up university based law clinics for those who cannot afford legal representation. Through demonstrating the importance of providing community access to justice we believe that many current and future lawyers will prioritize social justice.
