Asia Fair Trial Practices Roundtable

Strategies for Addressing Pre-Trial Detention

The Asia Fair Trial Practices Roundtable is an ongoing initiative that fosters dialogue, collaboration, and innovation to enhance the fairness and effectiveness of legal systems in the region. BABSEACLE has been organizing the Asia Fair Trial Practices Roundtable series since 2023. Previous roundtables have focused on Promoting the Rule of Law through Fair Evidence Practice and Death Penalty and Serious Offences Sentence Mitigation, Strategies and Barriers.

The upcoming virtual roundtable, titled ‘Strategies for Addressing Pre-Trial Detention,’ will focus on pre-trial detention, a critical stage in the legal process that often raises significant concerns regarding access to justice, the presumption of innocence, and the protection of human rights. Focusing on addressing challenges in pre-trial detention, we explore innovative strategies and collaborative solutions to ensure fair and effective legal proceedings.
