At 6:30 in the morning on 12 January 2014, the first of many participants in the 5th Trio for Justice will set off on the half marathon at beautiful Huey Tueng Tao Park in Chiang Mai. Between 7-7:30 am, they will be joined by the 10K, 5K and 3K children fun runners and walkers. In anticipation of this event, the team at BABSEACLE and BABSEACLE Foundation has been hard at work.
Under the guidance of Events Coordinator Suphamat Phonphra (Bee), staff, volunteers, and interns have worked to map out the routes, design the website, posters, t-shirts and banners, write the sponsorship letters, and reach out to the local and international communities for support, who have responded enthusiastically and generously thus far.
Our Events Coordinator, Bee, is excited to apply what she has learned from the last Trio for Justice. Compared to last time, Bee has been able to create a longer work plan with advertising, and she was able to go to other events, such the Phuket and Sukhothai marathons, to learn how to advertise on a more professional level. She was inspired by what she saw, and this helped her have a new vision for what the Trio for Justice will look like for next year. She enjoyed the event last year and the memories that were created. The volunteers were helpful in creating a fun event for everyone. She liked how all the staff, volunteers, and interns worked together to create the banners, help set up the event, and how others ran the marathon. Since many of the volunteers are foreigners, it was nice being able to make friends with others from different areas of the world. There was also good weather during the 4th Trio for Justice, and it was nice to be able to spend time together outside.
Looking forward to the 5th Trio for Justice, staff, volunteers, and interns are anticipating another great experience. The Trio for Justice is also a great place for organizations to come and advertise their work because there will be many people at this event. One of the purposes of the event is to raise funds for BABSEACLE’s many access to justice programs, and also to implement and support university-based Clinical Legal Education (CLE) programs. We would like to get more sponsors, support, and donations for the 5th Trio for Justice. Last year, the 4th Trio for Justice was supported through donations of raffle prizes and money, the local Thailand municipality as well as advertising benefits by organizations, law firms and businesses both at the local and international level. We will be looking forward working with these groups for the next Trio for Justice.
