BABSEA CLE International Externship Clinic – Placement Options

We offer 6 placement options to choose from for applicants wanting to participate in BABSEA CLE Legal Studies International Externship Clinic during the following placement periods May – August or from November – February.

All placements will  begin in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  This is a part of placement “Option T” 

“Option T” – Placement based primarily in Chiang Mai , Thailand (or possibly another city) and may include attending and participating in Community Legal Education (CLE) clinic duties and workshops with interns from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia and/or Cambodia.

 However interns may request to additionally be placed in one of the following countries.

 “Option  C”  -  Externship  starts  in  Chiang  Mai,  Thailand, continues to Phnom Penh (or possibly another city), Cambodia and finishes back in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Interns must travel overland by bus or train between Thailand and Cambodia country placement and when returning to Thailand.

 “Option  V”  -  Externship  starts  in  Chiang  Mai,  Thailand, continues in Hanoi (or possibly another city), Vietnam and finishes back in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Interns must partially  travel overland by bus or train between Thailand and Vietnam country placement and fully when returning to Thailand.  

 “Option  M” – Externship starts in Chiang  Mai, Thailand, continues in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and finishes back in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Interns must travel overland by bus or train Thailand and Malaysia during country placement and when returning to Thailand.   

“Option L” - Externship starts in Chiang Mai, Thailand, continues to Vientiane, Laos and finishes back in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Interns must travel overland by bus or train between Thailand and Laos placement and when returning to Thailand.  

“Option I” - Externship starts in Chiang Mai, Thailand, continues to Jakarta, Indonesia (or possibly another cityh) and finishes back in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Interns must partially travel overland by bus or train during Thailand and Indonesia placement and when returning  to Thailand.  

NB. Placements are NOT guaranteed; BABSEA CLE endeavours to help place you in your country option, however due to many of the logistics associated with partners, projects and requirements BABSEA CLE will make the final decision on each intern’s placement and in limited cases this may change even after an intern arrives and begins the program.
